Talisman is a small-format work of singular presence. Forty-six individually sculpted faces, painted in trompe-l’oeil to evoke howlite, jade, tiger’s eye and ancient turquoise, are assembled into a diamond constellation at the centre of a richly textured green ground, its surface built up in overlapping terraced scales that shift from pale celadon to deep forest, recalling the mineral depth of moss agate or serpentine stone.

Each face is a world unto itself: some serene, some with brows raised in astonishment, some open-mouthed as if caught mid-song. Taken together they form a figure that is at once protective and enigmatic, a gathering of presences arranged as though by ritual intention. The baroque frame, ornate and architectural, does not contain the work so much as consecrate it, transforming the composition into an object of private devotion.

At 32 x 40 cm, Talisman is conceived for intimate spaces. It carries the full intensity of Karine Mimoun’s visual language in a format made for living with daily.

Behind the work

Each piece is built from individually sculpted faces, moulded, cast in plaster and painted in trompe-l’oeil to evoke precious stones and minerals. The ground receives the same attention: textured and built up in relief, it is itself a sculptural work, modelled by hand before being painted.

These are the gestures that give every work its depth, its materiality, and its life

Gemetric is a meditation on order and multiplicity. Sixty-seven individually sculpted faces, painted in trompe-l’oeil to evoke unpolished jasper and blue calcite, are arranged in a strict square grid. Two distinct presences inhabit the composition: the outer faces, mouths open as though caught mid-chant, all cast from the same mould yet each bearing its own unique veining, no two stones alike; and the three central faces, wider, eyes closed in serene composure, their blue calcite ungilt and silent at the heart of the gathering. The contrast is quiet but absolute: a chorus held in suspension around a still, contemplative centre.

The ground unfolds as a sequence of layered theatrical curtains, receding from the outer edge toward the centre in three descending steps. The outermost curtain is worked in broad, shell-like scales of nacreous white with faint rose undertones, their raised edges highlighted in gold, evoking the inner surface of a pearl oyster caught in raking light. The inner curtains retreat in tones of warm grey and brown, their ridges traced in silver, creating a sense of depth and enclosure that draws the eye progressively inward.

At once ceremonial and intimate, Gemetric suggests a gathering: sixty-seven singular presences convened around a still centre, each distinct, each essential to the whole. Even the title carries this duality: Gemetric, where geometry meets gem, form meets mineral, structure meets matter.

From Jupiter is a question without an answer. Sixty-one faces compose a figure of uncertain nature: is it a being, an insect, a deity, or something for which no human language yet has a name? It arrives from Jupiter, the gas giant whose dense layers of cloud and magnetic field have never allowed a human eye to see what lies beneath.

The choice of faces is not arbitrary. Anthropocentrism has long led us to believe that we are the only conscious beings, on this earth and sometimes even beyond. The human face is the only form we know with certainty to carry consciousness. Karine Mimoun uses it precisely to ask: what if consciousness, wherever it exists, leaves a similar trace? The faces here are not human, but they are humanoid. Nothing proves that what lives beneath Jupiter’s clouds does not wear something resembling a face, assembled from matter we have never touched.

The ground descends in terraced layers from pale to deeper orange, its darker tones gathering beneath the figure as though the composition generates its own atmosphere, its own gravitational pull.
From Jupiter asks only one thing of the viewer: to accept that the universe contains more forms of life, more forms of matter, and more forms of beauty than we have yet imagined.

Cosmic dawn - 4500€

Cosmic Dawn is an origin. Before the mineral, before the stone, before the gem, there is energy. Here, Karine Mimoun turns her gaze toward the moment that precedes all matter: the first expansion, the initial pulse from which everything that exists will eventually crystallise.

Fifty-four faces are arranged as though propelled outward from a single point of origin, fanning across the composition like a universe in its first moments of expansion. They move not in a single chromatic arc but in alternating waves of burnt orange and turquoise blue, pulsing outward like frequencies overlapping in deep space: in the cosmos, the hottest stars burn blue, and between each pulse, the orange returns, insistent, as though matter and energy are answering each other across the void. At the precise centre of this expansion, a single nacreous point holds still, the origin itself, the silence before the burst.

The ground radiates from within. Worked in deep blues shading to midnight at its edges, its wave-like surface slightly paler at the centre as though lit from behind, its ridges traced in metallic blue, it does not frame the composition so much as breathe with it. This is not a background but a universe in its first breath, vast, luminous, already in motion.
The mineral will come. But first, there is light.

Gaia - 2200€

frame included. + shipping and packaging.

Dimensions : 20 x 26 cm / 7.9 x 10.2 in (work)

23 x 33 cm / 9.1 x 13 in (framed)

Gaia assembles twenty-six faces into the form of an earth goddess, in the greens and pinks of malachite, amazonite and rhodochrosite. Her form is symmetrical, ceremonial, alive. The deep malachite ground vibrates behind her like the earth itself breathing. She does not represent the earth — she is the earth, looking back. The baroque gilded frame crowns the work.

Strength - 2200€

frame included. + shipping and packaging.

Dimensions : 20 x 26 cm / 7.9 x 10.2 in (work)

23 x 33 cm / 9.1 x 13 in (framed)

Strength assembles twenty-two faces into a figure that is massive, dense, elemental. In tones of deep green and striated beige, they evoke jade and fossil stone, materials that have endured. The ground behind them, worked in flaming reds and deep oranges, radiates outward as though their gathering creates a shockwave. Like Gaia, the baroque gilded frame crowns the work.
